Pets in the Park Charity – SCAT Street Cat Rescue

The main goal of the Saskatoon Pets in the Park Inc. is to raise funds for the medical needs of homeless, sick and injured companion animals under the care of the three founding charities – New Hope Dog Rescue, Saskatoon SPCA and SCAT Street Cat Rescue.

SCAT Street Cat Rescue Program has been saving and bettering feline lives since 1997 with the main focus being on the humane treatment of feral cats. Feral kittens are socialized through foster care and adopted as indoor companions. Adult feral cats are neutered, given medical care and socialized when possible, or returned/relocated to monitored colonies where they are provided with shelter, regular food and water.

Looking for a feline companion?  Visit the free-roaming resident cats at the SCAT Adoption Centre on 50th & Faithfull or check out the website to meet the cats who are in foster care.  Available for adoption cats and kittens are also regular visitors to the PetSmart Adoption Centre at Preston Crossing.  Looking to volunteer?  The PetSmart Adoption Centre is a great start to getting to know the organization and the cats.  SCAT is always in need of volunteers.

Street Cat Rescue helps over 300 cats yearly directly.  They also help hundreds more by providing advice and resources to others when not able to intake themselves.  The SCAT office receives hundreds of calls every year and are not always able to help all directly.  Your donation of time and money is priceless and can help them help more cats such as little Mavoureen in this video.

Mavoureen, affectionately known as “Mavi”, came into SCAT’s care at just 3 weeks old. Her mother had stopped nursing, so the entire litter was placed with a special bottle-feeding foster home. It was immediately apparent that there was something wrong with her back legs. Although Mavi was unable to move them at first, she gradually was able to, only to then develop problems with her front legs as well. Great diagnostics revealed a deformity in her spine that was affecting her movement. Laser therapy, acupuncture and physical therapy, and lots of TLC, have enabled Mavi to live an enjoyable life. She is a sweet, funny and happy girl who can run and jump now despite her different gait.
